I
lost my password. How can I retrieve it? You
can have your password emailed
to you here.
How
do I view the themes once I've downloaded them? Unless
you have some kind of theme creation software
installed on your desktop computer, you won't be able
to view the themes on your desktop PC. You need to copy
the theme to your PDA via ActiveSync and then follow
the instructions for installing themes.
When
I click on the Download Now button, my computer tries
to open the theme (.tsk file) instead of saving the
theme file to my computer. What should I do?
Using
your right-mouse button, click on the link at the top
of the Contacting Download Site page (where is says
If your download does not start, click
here)
and select Save Target As... if using Internet Explorer.
If you're using Netscape, right-click and select Save
Link As. This will allow you to save the .tsk file instead
of opening it.
I
downloaded an animated theme but it doesn't animate.
What am I doing wrong?
Animated themes require three things:
Please see Gigabyte
Solutions for more detailed information about creating
and using Animated Themes.
How
do I create my own themes? It
is very easy to create your own themes. Choose your
operating system below:
Windows2000 or Windows XP
You simply need to download PowerToys for PocketPC
2002 from Microsoft. This is one of simplest wizards
you will find. It's FREE! Download
Theme Generator from Microsoft
Windows9x/ME
Microsoft's Theme Generator will not work. You will
need to download a program from BVRP Software called
pocket Theme Manager.
What
dimensions should my theme images be when creating themes?
Create your images
as follows:
Main
Background: 240x268 pixels
Start Menu Background: 152x287 pixels
How
do I install the themes once I've downloaded them? You
need to copy the .tsk file to either the My Documents
or Windows folder on your Pocket PC. To do this,
make sure your Pocket PC is in the cradle and turned
on. Then, double-click on My Computer | Mobile
Device. Simply paste the .tsk file there. Or, if
you have a MyDevice_MyDocuments folder on your desktop,
copy the .tsk file there. Then do a sync.
Once you have
the .tsk file copied to your Pocket PC, click on Start
| Settings | Today. There, you can select any theme
and click Ok on the top right.
Do
I need to have 3rd party software to use these themes?
No. You only need a PocketPC running Microsoft's
Pocket PC 2002 operating system.
I
downloaded the PowerToys for PocketPC 2002 and tried
to install it on my Windows 9x machine, but I got an
error. What gives? The Theme Generator was written
to take advantage of some of Microsoft's new .NET technologies
that are only available in Windows 2000 or WindowsXP.
Unfortunately, the program will not work on your
Windows 9x/Me machine.
If you are
interested in createing themes on your Win9x/ME computer,
see BVRP Software's pocket Theme Manager.
I
have downloaded a couple of your themes, but they don't
seem to work on my Jornada 54x, Casio E-125, etc. How
do I get them to work with my older device? The
concept of a "PocketPC Theme" is new to Microsoft's
PocketPC 2002 operating system which was released on
October 4, 2001. If you own an older Pocket PC device,
you can purchase a product from Novosec
called Pocket Facelift which will allow you to run
themes from my site.
Can
I create themes if I don't have Windows2000 or WindowsXP?
Yes. BVRP Software
has developed a utility calledpocket
Theme Manager that will allow you to create
themes on your Win9x/Me machine.
Why
did I get an error while trying to upload my files?
If you are going to upload your themes, please be sure
to have the following two requirements before starting:
Theme
Skin File (.tsk) that work not only on
your desktop, but on your Pocket PC. The .tsk file
must be less than 115 kb in order to upload
it to our site.
Preview
Image File in either .jpg or .gif format.
The image file must be exactly 240 x 320 pixels
in size and be less than 150 kb. If your file is too
wide, too narrow, too tall or too short, your upload
will fail. Please note: make preview images a screenshot of the PocketPC 2002/2003
desktop, not just the image iteself. Users will want
to see what color options are selected for text and
menu bars.

How
do I create a preview image of my theme for uploading?
There are a couple of ways. You can download a screenshot
utility such as IA
Style's IA Screenshot. Or, just simply open the
theme in the Theme creation tool of your choice and
hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard. Then open
up any paint program like Paintbrush, Adobe Photoshop,
etc. and simply hit Ctrl-V to paste it into an image.
Then simply crop the image to just contain your theme,
making sure your cropped image is exactly 240x320. Then
save it as either a .jpg or .gif file.
